Veteran News Updates
The priority registration date for continuing veteran students who are currently utilizing their educational benefits is 29 April 2013. These veteran students will receive an e-mail from the Admission's Office with their appointment times.
New veteran students can apply for admission for the Summer term through CCCApply.org. Students who signed up for the Spring term but didn't attend classes will need to reapply. New veteran students may request a priority registration date with the submission of their DD214 (Member 4 copy) to the Veterans Services Department.
Please note that all new students who have attended prior colleges must have their transcripts on file before any benefits can be processed.
Friendly suggestion: now is the time to get your Student Educational Plan (SEP) created/updated and to turn in any other missing documents (like your Certificate of Eligibility letter from the DVA) to Veteran Services so that your benefits for the Summer 2013 processing period will not be unnecessarily delayed.
If you need to update your Student Education Plan (SEP) you can call (619) 421-6700 ext 5240 for an appointment. Tell the counselor that you are a veteran student. You may declare a dual major, but you MUST have your SEP reflecting the dual major on file with Veterans Services.
Southwestern College Veterans Office will be closed for the Spring Break.
All Post 9/11 (Chapter 33) students declaring classes after 3:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2013, will not be flagged. As we cannot guarantee that your classes will be held, it is necessary for you to pay your registration fees or risk being dropped for non-payment.
The Veterans' Day Ceremony was a huge success.
Southwestern College Veterans Office would like to thank everyone who joined us in Honoring and Remembering the men and women who have given their lives, their service and their freedom so that we may have our own.
We would like to specially thank our guest speaker, Sergeant Major Bill "Ooorah" Paxton, USMC Retired, and our very own Professor Luis Nunez for the special flag presentation.
Also notable was the outstanding job our SWC Concert Choir & SWC Chamber Singers did singing "I Hear America Singing!" led by Professor Teresa Russell, D.M.A .
