On-Campus Veterans Resources

As a start in our list of helpful resources available to veterans on campus, please take a look at some of our free counseling services offered through Personal Wellness Services. The folks there are great: caring, understanding, and a good resource for any special services you might require. Some helpful phone numbers:

  • Southwestern College Veterans Services (619) 482-6324
  • National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-TALK (8255): press "1" to be routed to the Veterans Suicide Prevention Hotline
  • Veterans Home of Chula Vista 1-888-857-2146
  • Vocational Rehabilitation (619) 400-5471
While not "on campus" you may find this free and confidential support group for Iraq and Afganistan veterans hosted by the Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) to be helpful. This group is led by combat veterans with a marriage & family therapist present. Group or individual sessions are available: spouses and significant others welcome. Refreshments and child care provided. They meet at the Veterans Museum & Memorial Center, 2115 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA on Thursday Nights from 1900-2100.
