This Summer term is the last term the DVA will be paying break pay for any of its educational programs: the change in policy will be effective 1 August 2011.
If you are a continuing student, you have up to 56 calendar days between the end of your Spring 2011 classes and the start of your Summer 2011 courses in order to be eligible for break pay. Students who are transferring over to SWC from another institution only have 30 calendar days between classes to qualify for break pay - if they change their educational program, break pay is not authorized. Guest Students, since they are still attached to their parent school, should be considered by the DVA to be continuing students. The basic rules are stated in our FAQ section. Remember, the DVA is the institution that makes the determination of eligibility for break pay - SWC or any other school - does not.
