Notice to Summer Session Veteran Guest Students (13 Apr 2011)
Per California State law, we do offer priority enrollment to veteran students within two years of discharge from active duty. In order to gain this priority status you have to (1) be within two years of discharge, and (2) bring the SWC Veteran Service Office a copy of your DVA Certificate of Eligibility and DD214, as well as (3) a completed "parent letter" from your college or university. You will not be considered for priority registration without these documents.
Please note: before you can begin this process you need to apply to SWC through CCCApply.org, receive your student ID number, and receive a registration appointment through email from the Admissions Office (this process can take 48 hours). Then you can come to Veteran Services to request your priority registration date/time. Priority registration begins May 2nd, with regular registration for new and continuing students starting on the 9th.
We anticipate a far greater than expected influx of guest and new military students during the summer term because of the reduced offerings at other local community colleges. Please be patient as this situation creates a greater than expected demand on our resources.
