This class focuses on increased understanding of learning and development as applicable to tutoring. Course topics include self and identity; motivation; interaction within academic and nonacademic environments; theories of intelligence, learning styles, preferences and strategies; self-regulation, goal setting, and independent learning; mentoring; communication; tutoring in specific subject areas; and critical thinking.
