The STEP Program Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Education Preparation offers students an organized, substantial teacher education experience at the two-year college level in order to help students explore teaching as a career and to provide early on-the-job training in local schools. ED 100 Tutor Training Level 1
ED 110 Teaching and Learning Practicum
ED 200 Teaching as a Profession
ENGL 115 Reading/Composition: Exposition/Argumentation (For Future Teachers)
Program Requirements
Attend one STEP program orientation per semester
Attend three consultations with a counselor to complete an SEP (during the first semester of enrollment, after 24 units of course work completed, and after 48 units of coursework completed
Completion of 80 hours of Classroom Observation/Internship in a Public School Setting
Completion of a Statement of Teaching Philosophy
Completion of education portfolio including documentation of internship hours, samples of work from program classes, and a statement of teaching philosophy.
