Important Announcement
Due to the difficult budget problems facing the college, the district has denied funding for the STEP program. Students may still earn the Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Education Preparation. However, faculty will no longer be available for individual mentoring appointments, and there will no longer be group orientation sessions or workshops. This website will be maintained on a limited basis.

Southwestern Teacher Education Preparation (STEP)
Program Mission Statement
The mission of the Southwestern Teacher Education Preparation program is to assist students in the process of achieving their career goals in teaching and education. STEP exists to help point students in the right direction as they pursue their career goals to become educators by providing access to mentoring and opportunities for assistant teaching and tutoring experiences. STEP's goal is to provide accessible, useful information and valuable career oriented academic and professional experiences to those students at Southwestern College.
