The Research and Training Institute (RTI) is under the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering (MSE) at Southwestern College (SWC).

What the RTI Does

  • provides laboratory training and academic enrichment for faculty and students
  • conducts research and provides contracted services to the community
  • pursues funding for internships, academic scholarships, research, and training (see Funding and Garden of Giving Endowment)

Students

Student research carried out under the supervision of SWC math, science, and engineering faculty is a unique opportunity for students to increase their learning, improve their critical thinking, and foster an understanding of how real science is conducted.

Faculty

MSE faculty have successfully competed for grants totaling over $2.5 million dollars since 2000 (see Projects) which have provided state-of-the-art equipment for instruction and research activities.

MSE Faculty have actively conducted research and published their results in peer-reviewed research journals.

Community

The RTI provides the local community, industry, and research groups with a needed service.
