GB News: From the Southwestern Community College District Governing Board

President's Message

Governing Board President Tim NaderWe are proud to introduce our new Trustee, Humberto Peraza.

As you know, former Trustee Nick Aguilar retired in June 2011. Rather than spend more than $1 million on a special election, the Governing Board voted to make a provisional appointment which extends to the next Board election in November 2012.

Meet Our New Alumni

The numbers are in: At the conclusion of its spring 2011 semester, Southwestern College awarded 758 students with degrees and certificates, sending them as transfers to four-year institutions or into the workforce. The Board congratulates our new alumni.

DeVore Stadium and Field House renderingContinuing to operate the College District's bond program with greater transparency, the Board received a report on the Proposition R-related projects. A second year bond sale of approximately $69 million was recently completed to finance construction and modernization of projects outlined in the project list.

Calling All Volunteers

Beyond our talented students, the Governing Board knows our community is home to talented individuals who will donate their time for the College District’s good. Volunteers can serve in any school or department, working directly with students or performing administrative support.
