Policy Briefs: New Privileges for Student Trustee

At its June meeting, Board President Nader swore in Associated Student Organization President Claudia Duran as Student Trustee. Duran’s term expires June 2012.

Prop R Update
Continuing to operate the College District's bond program with greater transparency, the Board received a report on the Proposition R-related projects. A second year bond sale of approximately $69 million was recently completed to finance construction and modernization of projects outlined in the project list.
Other highlights include the completion of the Prop R fiscal year 2011 – 12 budget and submission of draft designs for the College District's new Field House to the Division of the State Architect. Focus will soon turn to renovations at Mayan Hall, SWC's performing arts complex, as well as classroom buildings 100 and 210 and the cafeteria.

Calling All Volunteers
Beyond our talented students, the Governing Board knows our community is home to talented individuals who will donate their time for the College District’s good. Volunteers can serve in any school or department, working directly with students or performing administrative support. This month, the Board approved volunteer opportunities for seven community members with its gratitude.
