Mariachi
Southwestern College is proud to be home to one of the world's biggest and strongest college mariachi programs. SWC offers mariachi instruction at all levels, with classes for anyone interested in mariachi music: from beginners to lifelong mariachi professionals, from recent high school graduates wishing to pursue a career in music to credentialed music teachers who wish to augment their teaching skills. The centerpiece of the program is the world's first college degree in mariachi music, the Associate of Arts in Music—Mariachi Specialization, which exists to train the next generation of mariachi teachers and professional mariachi musicians.
