Independent Study 1-3

Last update: June 23, 2011

GE Plans (General Education Plans): A breadth of coursework required of students seeking degrees in institutions of higher education that provides a comprehensive education and exposure to diverse fields of knowledge. The three plans most commonly followed by SWC students are: AA-AS Plan, CSU Plan, and IGETC Plan.

Transferable: A course at Southwestern College that counts as elective credit at the transfer institution.

Articulated: A course at Southwestern College that is acceptable in place of a course at the transfer institution.

AA-AS Plan: The general education requirements for the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees at Southwestern College. (Southwestern College Associate Degree (A.S. or A.A.) View AA-AS Plan pdf

CSU Plan: An agreement that specifies which transferable courses at Southwestern College will satisfy the general education requirements of the California State University system. (California State University (CSU) Breadth Requirements) View CSU Plan pdf

IGETC Plan: An agreement that specifies which transferable courses at Southwestern College will satisfy the general education requirements of most campuses of the California State University and the University of California systems. (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) View IGETC Plan pdf

GE Courses Common to all three GE plans: Courses that appear in all three General Education Patterns - Southwestern College Associate Degree (A.S. or A.A. Plan), California State University Breadth Requirements (CSU Plan), and Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC Plan). View GE Courses pdf
