REMINDER:
Southwestern College was granted reaffirmation on June 2011.  In order to maintain our standing, we must prove that the College has a fully functioning, ongoing assessment cycle and process by Fall 2012.

We also have a plan in place for completing our first full cycle of assessment.  While the campus community may not be as close to meeting WASC Standards as we would like, I do believe we still can meet the ACCJC Fall 2012 deadline by taking the following actions:

TIME FRAME ACTION
Fall 2011 Measure as many outcomes as practical and input aggregated SLO data in eLumen (AUO data will be stored in unit offices).  All data in eLumen before leaving for Winter Break.
Spring 2012
Opening Day
All breakout-sessions on Opening Day, Jan. 6, are dedicated to SLO/AUO discussions. During breakout-sessions staff, faculty and administrators can analyze outcome data collected and create plans for improvement.  If possible, disciplines and units should implement plans of improvement during the Spring 2012 semester and collect data.
Spring 2012 Measure as many unmeasured outcomes as practical.  If possible, disciplines and unit should re-measure outcomes implementing plans of improvement.  All SLO data in eLumen by May 14.
Spring 2012
End of Term
Disciplines and units should meet to discuss outcome assessment data before leaving for Summer Break.  Meeting results are entered into eLumen before the Summer Break begins.
Spring 2012
End of Term
Report on ISLOs written and submitted to the Accreditation Oversight Committee (AOC) for review.

To meet this goal as an institution, we need to adhere to the following outcome due dates.

Fall 2011

  • Every faculty member and administrative unit should assess at least one outcome and store the data.
  • Faculty should store outcome results in eLumen by Friday, December 23.  Administrative units should store data within their offices.

Spring 2012
  • Complete the Assessment Cycle Timeline form (see link) for your program or unit. (on Opening Day)
  • Every administrative unit should assess at least one outcome.  Every academic department should measure at least one program-level outcome (PSLO).
  • Faculty should store outcome results in eLumen by Friday, May 24.  Administrative units should store data within their offices.
