Theresa Batista - Current Team Member

My name is Theresa Batista, I am a sophomore this year and a returning player for Southwestern Volleyball Team. I am looking forward to this season because I think this team has amazing potential and I believe we can go far. It is amazing how much better I have gotten because of the help of Coach Rock and Assistant Coach Sarah.
Being a 5’10’’ middle blocker I feel the drive to better my skill and my speed to face all of my opponents. After I finish here at Southwestern, I plan on transferring to a university to continue playing volleyball, where I hope to take everything I’ve learned and reach the height of my potential. It is also in my future plans and goals to join the United States Navy. We are going to have a great season!Go Lady Jaaaags!

I am from La Mesa and graduated from Grossmont High School where I had some of the worst memories playing volleyball. I didn’t know that there could be a volleyball program so amazing like the one here at Southwestern. Angela Rock and Sarah Lewis have been the best coaches I have ever had and it is amazing how much better I have gotten, in the course of just a few months, because of them. They have brought my love for volleyball back.
I am majoring in Kinesiology and I plan to transfer to a four year university where I can continue to play volleyball. Playing volleyball here at Southwestern has taught me to be a leader and to never give up, even if it is the smallest thing. I know we will have an amazing season!

Lexi Vernon - Former Team Member
My name is Lexi Vernon, I'm 20 years old and I'm a setter. I transferred to Southwestern from Concordia University in Irvine where I played softball for 2 years. Coming to Southwestern was a huge change and I had no clue what to expect. When coach gave me the opportunity to play for her I couldn't turn it down. The whole team was so warm and welcoming when I first stepped on the court. I feel we all get along so well and it's wondrful to be a part of this team. Although our season hasn't gone as well as we'd expected, we still show up to practice everyday hungry to win. I can't thank coach Rock enough for giving me this opportunity to be a part of this team with girls I know I'll be friends with forever. My plan is to transfer to SDSU this coming fall to complete my math major and become a teacher. I will never forget alll the memories I have made with this team and best of luck to the Lady Jags in the upcoming seasons! - archived athlete testimonials...
