  By Tom Saxe - CHULA VISTA – Chester S. “Chet” DeVore, a legendary figure in San Diego County and far beyond on the playing field and as a coach, community college president, conference commissioner and World War II hero, died Friday at Frederica Manor in his adopted hometown of Chula Vista.
