PRINCIPLES OF ASTRONOMY

[Recommended Preparation: MATH 45 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Mathematics Assessment or equivalent; RDG 54 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Reading Assessment or equivalent.] Introduction to the concepts and methods developed in astronomy to describe and understand the physical nature and processes of astronomical phenomena. Topics include the sky, the solar system, stars and stellar evolution, nebulae, the Milky Way Galaxy, galaxies, and cosmology. [D; CSU; UC]
