INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

Includes the basics of sociological theory, socialization, culture, groups and organizations, the mass media, deviance and social control, social stratification, racial and ethnic inequality, family, religion, education, government, the economy, the environment, population, health, social movements, and social change. STATISTICAL METHODS OF SOCIOLOGY

[Prerequisite: SOC/PSYC 101 or equivalent; MATH 60 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Mathematics Assessment or equivalent.] Emphasizes statistical methods of behavioral sciences, including sampling, basic research designs, describing distributions through graphs and tables, measures of central tendency, variability, linear correlation and regression, applications of normal probability curve, and test of significance.
