Focuses on the rise of the United States as a world power. Includes a study of the Constitution of California and the interactions between state and local governments. (Partially fulfills American Institutions requirement at CSU.) [D; CSU; UC] EFFECTIVE FALL 2013: DESCRIP Covers American history from Reconstruction to the present day, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach. Includes a comparative study of the Constitutions of the U.S. and California, and the City Charter of San Diego, and the on-going interactions between federal, state, and local governments within the federal context.
