ED 101 TUTOR TRAINING: LEVEL II 2 Units [Prerequisite: ED 100 or equivalent. Recommended Preparation: RDG 56 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Reading Assessment or equivalent.] Focuses on increased understanding of learning and development as applicable to tutoring. Topics include self and identity; motivation; interaction within academic and nonacademic environments; theories of intelligence, learning styles, preferences and strategies; self-regulation, goal setting, and independent learning; mentoring; communication; tutoring in specific subject areas; and critical thinking.
