PHS 101 INTRODUCTION TO THE PHYSICAL SCIENCES 3 Units Grade only. [Recommended Preparation: RDG 158 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Reading Assessment or equivalent; MATH 45 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Mathematics Assessment or equivalent.] Introduction to basic physics and chemistry with emphasis on the understanding and significance of accepted fundamental principles. Contemporary issues, such as energy production versus environmental problems will be explored as well as the methods, limitations, and societal implications of scientific advancement.
