ED 100 TUTOR TRAINING: LEVEL I 2 Units [Recommended Preparation: RDG 158 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College Reading Assessment or equivalent.] Introduces effective tutoring principles and strategies. Includes guidelines for tutoring: how to plan, conduct, and evaluate productive tutoring sessions; components of effective intercultural tutoring; and strategies to facilitate student independence in learning. ED 200 TEACHING AS A PROFESSION 3 Units [Recommended Preparation: ENGL 115 or the equivalent skill level as determined by the Southwestern College English Assessment or equivalent.] Provides students the opportunity to explore teaching as a profession. Includes career exploration, foundations of education, and critical issues related to teaching in a contemporary K-12 setting. Examines California content standards and frameworks, as well as teacher performance standards. Requires a minimum of 45 hours of structured fieldwork in a diverse public school classroom under the supervision of a certificated teacher. (Same as ENGL 200.) [D; CSU; UC]
