1. Should I enroll in this program if I have credit in CD 170, or other CD courses above 100 level?
No. You are eligible to enroll in the child development courses taught in English.

2. If I already have completed CD 170, can I enroll in ESL 27A but not the CD 170S?
No. You should enroll in the child development courses taught in English.

3. I have credit in ESL 40; can I skip the ESL 27A, B, C, and D courses, and just take the CD “S” courses.
No. If you have credit in ESL 40, then you should be enrolled in the child development courses taught in English. The ESL 27 sequence is linked to this special CD certificate program.

4. If I don’t have a GED or High School equivalency, can I enroll in this program?
Yes. Admission to SWC is open to any student who has graduated from high school, or has equivalency ,and also to any student who is 18 years of age or older.

5. Does SWC grant college credit if I have university coursework, degrees or certifications from a foreign country?
Please consult with your counselor for specific information.

6. Do I need to take the ESL Assessment Test prior to enrolling in the program?
No, the ESL Assessment Test is highly recommended but not mandatory. The ESL Assessment Test is available by appointment at the Assessment Office, phone number (619) 482-6385.

7. Is this CD program offered at all three SWC sites (Chula Vista, National City, and San Ysidro)?
This program is offered at the Chula Vista and San Ysidro campuses. The Chula Vista campus admits a new class every Spring Semester, and the San Ysidro campus, every Fall Semester.

8. Are the credits obtained in this program transferable to other colleges and universities?
The courses offered at Southwestern College are generally transferable to other colleges and universities. However, the final transfer of SWC courses to other institutions is determined by the transfer institution. Please consult with a counselor for specific information.

¿Does the class schedule change every semester?
We try to keep the same schedule during the four semesters.
