Enrollment is restricted to students who have pre-applied for the program through the nursing department. The application form must be submitted to the nursing department in person at the Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa, Nursing Programs, Room 4401, 8100 Gigantic Street, San Diego, CA 92154.
CPR certification and fingerprinting are required and must be completed prior to giving patient care in a health care facility. Arrangements have been made to provide the fingerprinting service on campus and a CPR class for the CNA students is also available at a minimal charge. Currently enrolled students may make an appointment for a physical exam through the campus Health Services Department. Most of the required immunizations may be completed through the Health Services department as well, some require a fee.
Enrollment is restricted to students who have applied within the appropriate application periods through the nursing department. The program accepts 30-40 students, however, will have additional students as alternates (in case potential students from the accepted group are unable to participate). All accepted students are expected to meet on the first day at 8 a.m. for roll call. Accepted students who fail to meet the class will have to reapply for the next available course.
After successful completion of the nursing assistant training program, you are eligible to appl for the State Department of Health Services certification exam. The exam is administered on campus and the current fee is $90 (subject to change).
