CAD Program

There is an increasing demand for competent engineering technicians knowledgeable in the application and integration of CADD software. The CAD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting) courses at SWC provide students the opportunity to obtain a certificate or AS degree in this area. Classes are designed to provide students an opportunity to learn relevant skills and technical knowledge used in a variety of engineering disciplines. The classes focus on fundamental CADD, drafting and problem solving strategies in the development of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional models using a variety of CAD software. Students planning to enroll in a four-year engineering program will benefit greatly by developing CAD skills used in most engineering disciplines.

The following list is a sample of disciplines that employ computer aided design majors. Some areas require a certificate of achievement or AS degree while others will require a bachelor’s degree.

Mechanical Design Architectural Design Urban planning
Aeronautical Design Automotive Design Circuit board design
Structural Design Garment Design Mapping
Crime Scene Development Vocational teacher Landscape Design
Construction Supervisor CAD technician Environmental studies
