Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG’s)

Located on the second floor of the Student Services Center.

Upon completion of required qualifications, students are guaranteed admission to the participating campuses. We currently have agreements with the following campuses.
  • National University - NU will guarantee admission to SWC transfer students if they have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the time of admission up to a maximum of 69 semester units. NU accepts the CSU General Breadth pattern, IGETC, or its own lower division GE requirements. They will waive the standard application fee ($60) and scholarship the last two classes (nearly $2000) of a Bachelor’s degree program for students who meet certain criteria.

  • SDSU, Agreement of understanding - San Diego State University (SDSU) provides an opportunity to local areas students for guaranteed admission to a major of your choice, provided that you satisfactorily complete all requirements. After successful completion of the specified criteria, a student is guaranteed admission. A minimum of 60 units is required along with specified GPA and other requirements.

  • UC, Irvine Preliminary Admission-in-the-Field (PAIF) - Students may be eligible for admission to UCI through PAIF if they meet the following requirements: (1) Completion of 60 transferable semester units by the end of the quarter prior to enrolling (Fall or Winter), (2) Completion of all major course prerequisites and (3) Minimum GPA of 3.0 for all majors.

  • UC, Riverside TAG - The University of California, Riverside (UCR) developed the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program to encourage students to begin work on their bachelor’s degree at the community college and then transfer to UCR to complete it. Participants in the TAG program who fulfill the UC minimum admission requirements and apply to UCR during the appropriate filing periods will receive priority application consideration and will be guaranteed admission to UCR.

  • UC, San Diego TAG - This contract between Southwestern College and UCSD, grants students at Southwestern College: (a) guaranteed admission to UCSD upon satisfactory completion of UCSD TAG requirements, (b) guaranteed applicability of TAG core curriculum toward the completion of lower division UCSD General Education requirements, and (c) guaranteed admission to the college of choice and term of transfer (for impacted majors students are admitted as pre-majors). A minimum GPA of 2.80 in all UC-transferable course work is required. the TAG requirement will change effective Fall 2009, contact the transfer center for more information.

  • UC, San Diego University Link - University Link is a partnership between UCSD, Southwestern College and the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD). This program is open to all first semester freshmen. The program offers services, including individual counseling and activities, to facilitate a timely and smooth transfer from high school to Southwestern College to UCSD. Successful completion of the University Link agreement guarantees admission to a Fall term at UCSD. A minimum of 60 units and GPA of 2.80 in all UC-transferable course work is required.

  • UC, Santa Barbara Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) - The Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) assures general admission to UCSB in the College of Letters and Sciences for a Fall term, but not necessarily admission to a major. To qualify for admission to UCSB TAA, you must: Apply for admission to UCSB during the application filing period preceding the intended Fall term of transfer, satisfy the specified requirements and earn a GPA of 2.80 in all UC-transferable course work.

  • UC, Santa Cruz GATE - Guaranteed Admission for Transfer Entry (GATE) Program students must be enrolled at a participating community college and after successful completion of the specified criteria, a student is guaranteed admission for a Fall term to UCSC. A minimum of 60 units is required along with specified GPA and other requirements.
