Southwestern College Left Navigation

About The Program

Would you like to try something new?

Do you need to make a connection?

Enroll in a Learning Community today!

Learning Communities are two classes linked together. For example, a speech class may be linked with a reading class. Each class will have its own curriculum; however, the instructors will connect the material of the classes with common themes, assignments, and discussions. For example, you might have one reading or writing assignment for both classes. Learning Communities are designed to help you make new connections and experience learning in a more meaningful way.

You will need to enroll in both classes to be a part of a Learning Community. The same students will be in both classes; therefore, you become a community of learners, and you will be able to know your classmates better. Another benefit is that you will have the opportunity to form one study group for two classes.

To view a list of these classes, see the LC Courses. To follow a step-by-step plan on how to become involved in Learning Communities, see How to Enroll.
