Crown Cove Aquatic Center Now Offers Equipment Rentals
Rates begin as low as $12/hour
CHULA VISTA – Water sports enthusiasts have a new place to hone their skills—and at an affordable price. This week the Southwestern College Crown Cove Aquatic Center began rental of kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and sailboats.
Taking advantage of the first weekend of rentals were Brett Drury of Escondido and his two sons as they set off on a Hobie sailboat for an afternoon of fun on San Diego Bay.
Rentals begin as low as $12 per hour, and they are available generally from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. For a full listing of rates, click on the center’s website: www.swccd.edu/crowncove
Patrice Milkovich, director of the Crown Cove Aquatic Center, expressed her excitement for the program.
"There are regular inquiries by residents of the South Bay, as well as visitors to our area—guests of Loews Coronado Bay Resort and the Silver Strand State Beach—as to whether we rent our equipment,” Milkovich said. “Until now, the answer has been, ‘no.’
“That has changed, and we are thrilled to be able to provide an affordable, outdoor recreational opportunity to all who wish to experience aquatic boating activities on San Diego Bay,” she said.
Milkovich added that as the program develops, more equipment and experiences will be made available to the general public.
