The School of Arts and Communication announces 2006 SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM

This unique Summer Arts Program is targeted to high school students in grades 10 through incoming 12th graders. All the workshops will be taught by professional artists and professors in their respective fields. The workshops’ purpose is to provide students with real hands on experience in the arts, students will work one–on-one with professionals, receive feedback, and they will have the opportunity to experience artistic growth.

Application deadline is June 30, 2006.
SPACE IS LIMITED. ALL SEATS ARE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS.
The cost per workshop is $75. Some workshops require a material fee (fees vary).
A minimum number of 13 students is required in each workshop. Workshops cancelled due to lack of enrollment will receive a full refund.

Learn to appreciate the various art forms of dance! Experience dance techniques in modern, jazz, lyrical and hip hop, Can you move? You will after this workshop!

Summer Audio Recording Workshop Jay Henry July 3 – 7, 2006
Join us in an introduction to audio recording. Learn about sound, microphones, and how to multi-track recording works. You’ll be immersed in sound in a fun learning environment.
M – F 3:30 pm – 8:30 pm Room 802/804 $75

Summer Painting Studio Raul Espinoza July 3 - 8
Learn to paint with us this summer. Experience your creative side through painting. Each student will learn the use of lines, color theory, shape representation and abstraction. Express yourself through the language of art...

Through the Eye of the Camera John Delimuth July 3 & 5 and July 10 & 12
Discover the world of photography this summer. This one-week workshop includes instruction in the use of a few types of cameras, black and white film development, and printing. Your materials fee includes film, chemistry, and paper. You may be require to bring your own camera. Join us and learn photography as a creative art!
M & W 11:45 am – 4:45 pm Room 518 $75
Materials Fee: $12 per student

Sun, Fun, and Sculpture Nathaniel C. Clark July 3 - 10
Explore the relationships between art and the outdoor environment. Enjoy the summer weather while designing and creating a variety of sculptural projects. We’ll work outdoors with natural and man-made materials, and no art experience is necessary. Plus, we will document the process and results using the schools video equipment; -each student will get to keep a copy! The materials fee covers such things as stakes, lumber, flagging tape, paper, plastic sheeting, ropes, string, and whatever else you want to work with!

A minimum number of 13 students is required.
Acting Techniques Katie Rodda July 3 - 7
Ever thought about acting? A fun, entertaining and educational workshop on character techniques will be offered. Develop your physical and vocal self-expression in every day communication and character interpretation. No previous acting experience is required.
M - F 2 pm – 7 pm Room 911 $75
A minimum number of 13 students is required.
Guitar Techniques for the Modern Guitarist Jorge Pastrana July 3 - 7

This workshop will include live presentations and hands-on experience of Classical/Flamenco, Electric and Jazz guitar techniques as well the use of computers as a mean to teach note reading, tablature and history of the guitar. Enjoy your guitar this summer!
Open to intermediate and advanced students.
