College Student Led Advocacy Project

Legislative Update

Governor Davis’ revised State Budget for FY 2003-2004 is expected to become public on May 15th. The revision will incorporate updated revenue projections. Legislators will postpone budget decisions until the Governor’s revised budget is available.

The Consultation Council of Community College Organizations has finalized an alternative budget proposal to show elected officials what a “proportionate” budget would look like. This proposal is based on revenue projections currently being reconsidered.

The Assembly Budget Sub-Committee No. 2, charged with writing the education budget meets on Tuesday, April 29th to review the community college budget.

Statewide Call to Action

Community College Advocates are asked to contact members of the Assembly Budget Sub-Committee No. 2 and to encourage them to adopt a “fair share budget” which “keeps the doors open” by treating colleges proportionately.
