CHULA VISTA, CA – Denise Whittaker, Interim Superintendent/President of Southwestern College, today issued the following statement as the College begins celebrates Women’s History Month:

“Women fought and sacrificed to move our society forward. Women’s History Month is our chance to celebrate their achievements – here at Southwestern College and across the nation. For fifty years, we have trained our region’s women to become our State’s future leaders. We are proud to continue that tradition.

“Over the next month, our College will host educational and community events celebrating women and helping them advance their careers, knowledge and skills. We invite our community to join us.”

On Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24, Southwestern College will host its 5th Annual Women’s History Month Street Painting Festival and Community Resource Fair. The free event will include:

  • Chalk art by students, faculty, staff, children and community artists;
  • Vendors and community agencies providing women and family-specific services; and
