Southwestern College Suspends Construction Contracts
At its regularly scheduled meeting of Wednesday, January 11, 2012, the Governing Board of the Southwestern Community College District (SWCCD) directed staff to take all steps necessary to immediately suspend existing construction contracts with Seville Construction Services and BCA Architecture Inc.
Governing Board President Norma L. Hernandez noted that “the Board’s action was based on the District’s ongoing internal review and the San Diego County District Attorney’s investigation.” She added that “the Board’s action was deemed to be the most appropriate and responsible decision to take at this time.”
Superintendent/President Dr. Melinda Nish said the College District’s internal review is ongoing and that all findings will be made available to the public upon completion.
The College District continues to monitor the investigation by the District Attorney’s office and continues to provide its full support and cooperation.
